Collections Exhibited
Most of the Road Vehicle department exhibition area is covered by open-storage collections of the following vehicles: bicycles, motorcycles and four larger car collections. For more information on individual collections see the following pages.
A specialty of the museum is the department of presidential vehicles, a collection of limousines and security vehicles that were in use by the Yugoslav president Tito. These are rarities, precious examples of unique limousines with high technical and historical value. In the decade before the independence of Slovenia TMS received 15 cars, including a 1939 Mercedes 540K, a present of the Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs to president Tito; a 1937 Packard, present of the ex-Soviet Union leader Stalin, who gave it to Tito in 1945, two 1954 ZIS cars, gift of Stalin’s successor Nikita Khrushchev, a unique Horch 951A, a 1950s Rolls Royce and many others.

The Motorcycle collection consists of typical specimens of motorcycles that used to ride our roads. From the pre-WWII motorcycles from this department, let us take a closer look at the 1918 Wanderer, the 1922 Henderson and the 1927 Harley Davidson 1200. The undisputed exhibition champion is the race bike FN 600, the motorcycle that won many races at home and abroad before and after WWII. The post-war period exhibit pieces feature the most popular 50 cc motorcycles and mopeds by Rog and Tomos manufacturers. This collection features only a few Tomos motorcycles, those that were most popular among the Slovene bikers back in the day. All the other mopeds and motorcycles that were milestones in the company’s development are displayed in the room with the exhibition entitled “Motorcycles from Koper”.
