Direct current generator of the Ljubljana power station
In the beginning, the power plant had two systems – a steam boiler, a steam engine and a direct current generator. From the technical point of view, a truly interesting exhibit piece is the 120 kW direct current generator, manufactured in the Siemens- Halske factory. This constructional rarity – its rotor is placed externally and the stator with the electromagnetic coils is placed inside the generator – produced electrical current in the voltage of 150 V. A year later, two additional steam boilers were added to the power station, as well as a stronger steam engine and a 320 kW dynamo by the same manufacturer. The power station was connected to a large storage battery station which would charge during the day and fuel the electrical circuit from midnight to dawn, when the power station was not in operation.
