Opening of the exhibition Victory! 80 years of the first Slovenian stamps for the Slovenian Littoral and Istria

On Thursday, December 11, we opened a new temporary exhibition Victory! 80 years of the first Slovenian stamps for the Slovenian Littoral and Istria at the Museum of Post and Telecommunications in Polhov Gradec, within which we are presenting a valuable part of the collection of architect Miroslav Oražem for the first time. His unique collection of drafts and sketches of postage stamps, acquired in 2022, represents the entire opus of proposals for the first Slovenian stamps issued after 1945 in the area of western Slovenia.

The introductory part of the ceremony was opened with a speech by Natalija Polenec, director of the Technical Museum of Slovenia. This was followed by a presentation by Estera Cerar, museum councilor and project manager, who presented the creation, concept and content of the exhibition in more detail.  The significance of Oražem’s work was further highlighted by Bogo Zupančič, Senior Curator at the Museum of Architecture and Design. The official part of the event was concluded by Igor Pirc, President of the Ljubljana Philatelic Society and Vice-President of the Philatelic Association of Slovenia.

The program was accompanied by a musical performance by young musicians, who created a special, festive atmosphere with pieces from Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni.

The exhibition Victory! 80 years of the first Slovenian stamps for the Slovenian Littoral and Istria will be on display until November 22, 2026.
