How did photographers determine the right exposure for a good shot before the digital era? The answer is offered by the exhibition The Third Eye: Miha Podlogar Light Meter Collection opening on October 22, 2026, at the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra.
The exhibition presents approximately 520 light meters, exposure calculators, and tables donated to the museum in 2025 by collector, photographer, editor, and photography history researcher Miha Podlogar. Among the items are various types of light-measuring devices and accessories that helped photographers determine the appropriate exposure and increase the chances of a successful shot.
This diverse collection provides an insight into the development of photographic technology and the ways photographers mastered light before the advent of digital cameras. At the same time, it represents an important contribution to the preservation and research of the history of photography.
The exhibition will be on view until December 31, 2027.
