While walking through the streets of Ljubljana, we invite you to take a trip to the shop windows at Štefanova street 2, where you can view the exhibition From a screw to a tram until the end of February 2023. The exhibition, which we have prepared in cooperation with the Museum of the Slovenian Police and which will be on display in the shop windows of the Ministry of the Interior on Štefanova Street, will present the conservation and restoration processes of various materials and their protection processes.
In order to best present the mentioned procedures, we will also exhibit various objects at different stages of restoration, namely at the beginning, during the process and after the process is finished. Conservation and restoration of museum exhibits are one of the most important activities of the museum, which preserve many objects that would have been destined for gradual decay without these interventions.
“The present exhibition presents an overview of the work of the TMS conservation and restoration service over the past twenty years. We selected items from various collections that were the most interesting or challenging to restore. Iron lungs, the Tomos colibri moped and knitting machines are certainly among them,” said Drago Štimec, head of the conservation and restoration service.
