The “Gustav Tönnies” planing machine

The planing machine was manufactured inthe Gustav Tönnies factory in Ljubljana even before WWI. It was called Heba. We can see it in the 1910 catalogue of the factory, in which the customers were offered a complete selection of machines for private woodworking craftsmen as well as for larger industrial plants. The operation of the machine required a drive power of 2 hp, which provided 800 rpm. It weighed 360 kilograms. In addition to the above-mentioned machines for secondary wood processing, Gustav Tönnies’s factory also produced large full blade gang saws for primary wood processing, milling machines, a whole range of hydro turbine power plants with regulators, transmissions, hat machines, individual small series of products for sports and recreation and others. Prior to World War I, the factory received 8 state awards for the quality of its products.
