The first collections were dealing with forestry and hunting and opened their doors to the public in 1953. Today, more than 6000 m2 of exhibition areas are on display of 9 permanent collections, which are presented on these pages in more detail.

Textiles

The textile department was established for the purpose of collecting, restoring, storing and studying the objects and work techniques used in the craft and later industrial phase of the development of the industry. With the help of these objects, the history and progress of textile production in the culturally and geographically very diverse Slovenian area are presented. The beginnings of the textile collection date back to 1961, when TMS took over two cloth-making devices from Lepa Njiva near Mozirje. Textile as permanent exhibition was open in 1975, and thoroughly updated and expanded in 2002.
